  • To show that exhaled air contains more carbon dioxide than inhaled air.

    1. Put limewater in the two test tubes as shown in the diagram.

    2. Breathe in through X.

    3. Hold this breath as long as possible.

    4. Breathe out through Y.

    5. Repeat this a few times.

    Result: The limewater in test tube B will turn milky.

    Conclusion: There is more CO2 in exhaled air.
